Our history
In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, an increase in earth movements reminded us all of California’s vulnerability to earthquakes. Seismologists and engineers recommended the retrofitting of existing homes in order to improve safety and prevent financial loss. Gregory Prinsze and Wayne Harrison, licensed contractors at the time, recognized the need for a retrofitting service for homeowners, and founded Earthquake Safety in 1984. Since that time, Earthquake Safety has built a solid reputation throughout the Bay Area for quality residential seismic retrofits.
Our experience
Since 1984 we have strengthened over 6,000 homes in five Bay Area counties and 40 cities. Our highly skilled inspectors attend regular training programs offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, the Association of Bay Area Governments, and the International Conference of Building Officials. Our installation crews, all full-time employees, receive initial and ongoing training from one of our company principals and are certified by Hilti, a manufacturer of anchoring systems.
